Sandra Lee “Sandi” Mitchell 1958-2013
Sandra Lee “Sandi” Mitchell, 55, of Pensacola peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on February 8, 2013 after succumbing to cancer. Sandi was a master social worker, who championed and advocated to give a voice to those without one. She was a true servant of God with a heart of compassion and empathy, especially for homeless and indigent people. She served many clients, and was involved in numerous community organizations including ACS, ECOH, and The NW Florida Justice program. Most recently, she opened a transitional housing program calling it “Starting New in Pensacola”. Sandi loved to cook and she was gifted in being able to create “magical” recipes. She could easily make something out of nothing and call it Compel. She often said you were compelled to eat it or go hungry. Survivors include: her husband, Skip “Kenneth” Mitchell and her beloved dachshund dogs, Lucille and Lucas, and a host of friends and colleagues. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church with a luncheon following the service. “She was very encouraging and supportive. I was blessed to call her my friend.” In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her husband.
