Michael Nakoa, 57 Nov. 10, 1958 - July 16, 2016Michael Nakoa passed away on July 16, 2016, in Alamogordo, N.M., at the Bee Hive Homes, in the care of Hospice. His daughter Sarah and longtime friend Michael Storseth, were by his side. He was born to Otey Infinger and Margaret Nakoa in Bethesda, MD., on Nov. 10, 1958.Upon graduation from Escambia High School in Pensacola, Fla., Mike joined the United States Air Force in 1977. While in the Air Force, he did tours in South America and Saudi Arabia in support of Desert Storm, completing 20 years of service. Mike retired as a Security Specialist. After retiring, he spent some time as a sales associate for the BX Garden Center. He also worked in dispatch at the Sheriff's Office and from there he spent 13 years as a Corrections Officer at OCDC. After his time at OCDC, Mike spent some time with Apache Mesa Golf Course and Opportunity Center. Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Carbajal and husband Ryan; granddaughters, Leila and Lynly; and longtime friend Michael Storseth and family of Alamogordo; his father, Otey Infinger of Pensacola; brother, Mark Nakoa; sister-in-law Ronda Nakoa; nephews, Zachary and Carson of Anchorage, Alaska; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the islands of Hawaii. Services for Michael Nakoa will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Sowers officiating. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.Harley-Davidson attire or casual dress welcome. The Nakoa family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
