Christopher M Gaal
Christopher Michael Gaal passed away on June 14, 2016, at the age of 22. He was a resident of Mobile and graduated from Baker High School in 2011. He went on to major in music education at the University of South Alabama, where he was the mellophone section leader in the Jaguar Marching Band, a member of numerous ensembles, and a student employee at the USA Music Office.  For the past year and a half, Christopher has worked in the bakery at Publix. He always loved his work, his coworkers, and his customers, and looked forward to going to work each day. He attended South Coast Church, where he was involved in Bible study. He is survived by his parents, Mike and Becky Gaal; his two sisters, Ashley Flagge (William) and Bethany Gaal Patty (Barcus); his nephew, Liam Flagge; his maternal grandmother, Dolly Murph; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bob and Pepper Gaal; and by his maternal grandfather, Chester Murph. Christopher was a loving son, brother, and friend. His friends remember him as a kind gentleman, who always had an encouraging word for everyone. He endeavored to be a man of integrity and was steadfast in his faith. He loved music and the time he spent in the marching band, choir, musical theater, and playing in church programs and services. Christopher enjoyed playing disc golf, basketball, and video games; and he had a passion for helping others by donating blood as often as he could. His passing leaves a void in his community and in the hearts of his family, but the choices he made while he was with us, offer hope and will save lives through his blood and organ donations. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His family looks forward to being reunited with him one day in Heaven. A visitation will be held Friday, June 17 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Luke 4:18 Fellowship Church, followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to the University of South Alabama Music Department, 307 N University Blvd., Mobile, AL 36688 or donate blood.
