Dorothy M. Stillman, a lifelong resident of Florida, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the age of 84.She was born in Tallahassee, Florida on June 25, 1933 to the late Eli and Annie Belle Bazzell Smith.She was subsequently raised by her mother and step-father, the late Jesse Griner.Dorothy was a longtime member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church. She was a prayer warrior; continually in prayer for her church, her family and her neighborhood.She loved Southern Gospel Music and was the number one supporter of the quartet Take Five, of which her sons were members for many years.In earlier years she enjoyed crafting beautiful ceramic pieces, which she sold and gifted to family and friends. She often recalled good times, one of which was the love of square dancing and how she had met her husband O.J. there.She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, O.J. Stillman, Jr.; and her firstborn son, Michael Patterson.Dorothy was the proud mother to her surviving sons, Steve (Jessica) Summers, Tony (Genie) Stillman and Scott (Dianne) Stillman; six grandchildren, Erica (Daryl) Beverly, Candice (Michael) Cutler, Jason (Jenni) Summers, Wesley Stillman, Derek (Bree) Stillman and Heather Reed; and eight great grandchildren.Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Pastor Ron Lentine and Captain Tony McFarlane, USN (ret), officiating.Internment at Barrancas National Cemetery will be held at a later date.The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the funeral home.Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Williams and Dennis Wheat.
